Introduction
Feather fluorite has a chemical composition of CaF₂, primarily composed of calcium and fluorine. It is a special variety of fluorite, named for its fine, feather-like crystalline structures. These feather-like inclusions are agate crystals, usually white or transparent, and are also known as "feathered fluorite."
In 16th-century mineralogical literature, it was primarily used for making glass and as a metallurgical flux; current Roman museum collections house two Persian fluorite cups, which confirm its ornamental use was known at that time.
