Introduction
Emeralds have the chemical formula Be₃Al₂(SiO₃)₆. They get their unique green luster from trace amounts of chromium or vanadium and are also known as "jade."

In ancient Egypt, it was one of the gemstones treasured by the nobility and royalty. Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen, was extremely fond of emeralds and owned her own emerald mines, which she used to create jewelry and ritual objects. The ancient Roman philosopher Pliny the Elder recorded in his "Natural History" that emeralds could bring comfort to the eyes and restore clarity of vision. Therefore, among ancient craftsmen, there was a saying that "viewing emeralds can nourish the eyes."
