Introduction
Cobalt calcite has the chemical composition of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), containing trace amounts of cobalt (Co²⁺) which gives it its characteristic pink color. It is commonly found in veins associated with lead and copper ores, and is also known as "pink calcite."

In the late 19th century, European mineralogists documented this type of ore in the Congo and Morocco regions, where it was primarily used for mineral specimen collections and pigment extraction. In modern times, with the rise of New Age crystal healing, it has gained importance for its soft pink color and calming energy.
