Introduction
The chemical composition of peacock eye malachite is copper carbonate (Cu₂CO₃(OH)₂), a green copper ore named for its beautiful concentric rings, resembling the eyespots on peacock feathers, also known as "peacock eye stone."

During the pharaonic era of ancient Egypt, malachite was believed to ward off evil and protect against harm, and was often carved into amulets or eye ornaments. Roman and Chinese historical records also mention it as a symbol of protection, wisdom, and wealth, while in Middle Eastern civilizations, it was used to carve amulets, jewelry, and religious artifacts.
