Introduction
The main component of ruby is aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃). Due to trace amounts of chromium, it exhibits a bright red to deep red color and is also known as "Burmese red corundum."

Since ancient times, it has been a symbol of nobility. The ancient Indian scriptures, the Vedas, called it the "king of gems" and also regarded it as a symbol of power and courage; European nobles considered it a representation of love and passion.
