Introduction
The chemical composition of labradorite is mainly sodium calcium aluminum silicate (Na,Ca)(Si,Al)₄O₈. Because its surface exhibits iridescent luster in blue, green, gold, purple, and other colors, it is also called "spectrolite" or "black moonstone."

The Inuit called it "flint" and passed down the legend "like the aurora trapped in rock—the aurora borealis was sealed in a stone, a warrior pierced it with a spear, and the remaining light stayed in the stone." Because of its shimmering brilliance like the aurora, it was regarded as a sacred stone by the indigenous people. The Norse and Inuit believed it held the energy of the aurora.
