Introduction
The chemical composition of marcasite is iron disulfide (FeS₂). Due to its metallic luster, it is often mistaken for gold and is also known as "fool's gold."

In the Inca civilization, it was polished to a mirror-like finish and used for religious ceremonies or divination. In medieval Europe, it was used as flint or alchemical material, symbolizing wealth and protection.
