Introduction
Moss agate's main component is silicon dioxide, with the chemical formula $SiO_2$, belonging to the chalcedony group of the quartz family. Its characteristic feature is the presence of green, brown, or black natural patterns resembling moss, aquatic plants, and branches distributed within a translucent to milky white mineral body. These patterns are not true plant fossils, but are mainly composed of dendritic structures or inclusions formed by minerals such as manganese and iron, also known as "moss agate."
In ancient Greek and Roman cultures, agates featuring plant-like patterns were frequently made into amulets, seals, and carved ornaments. Later, due to their natural imagery, they became associated with the earth, farming, and bountiful harvests. In European traditional culture, they were favored by farmers and gardeners, gradually developing cultural connotations that symbolize fertility of the land, plant growth, and the vitality of nature.
