Amethyst's chemical composition is silicon dioxide (SiO₂), and it belongs to the quartz family. Its dreamy purple color comes from the color changes produced by trace amounts of iron being affected by natural radiation during crystal formation. The color ranges from light purple to deep purple, and it is also known as "sobering stone."

In ancient Greek culture, amethyst was considered a gem symbolizing reason and wisdom. People believed that wearing amethyst could maintain sobriety and calmness, hence its name "Amethyst" originated from the Greek word "amethystos," meaning "not drunk." In medieval Europe, amethyst was regarded as a symbol of nobility and power, often adorning crowns, scepters, and religious artifacts.
