Introduction
The chemical composition of dragon blood stone is mainly epidote (Ca₂(Al,Fe)₃(SiO₄)₃(OH)) and manganese-containing piemontite (Ca₂(Al,Mn³⁺,Fe³⁺)₃(SiO₄)(Si₂O₇)O(OH)), and it may be accompanied by a chalcedony/jasper type quartz (SiO₂) base, also known as "dragon blood jasper" or "dragon blood quartz."

In the Materia Medica by the ancient Greek pharmacologist Dioscorides, "dragon's blood" is recorded as a red medicinal material used for hemostasis and healing; medieval gem books consider stones with red spots on a green background to symbolize vitality, courage, and protective effects.
