Introduction
The main chemical component of abalone shell is calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), formed by the inner layer of abalone shells and containing small amounts of organic matter and keratin. Its surface has a natural iridescent luster, displaying dreamlike colors such as blue, green, and purple with light refraction. It is also known as "mother-of-pearl" or "chasing abalone shell."

In Māori culture, it is regarded as a sacred ocean treasure, often used for carving ornaments, totems, and ceremonial items, symbolizing protection, peace, and life energy.
